    HOUSTON, TEXAS (June 30, 2007) – Steve Watkins, a partner at McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore L.L.P., has been elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) as a member of the Houston Chapter. Membership is granted exclusively to attorneys nominated on the basis of personal character, honorable reputation and proficiency as a trial lawyer.

    Watkins’ active trial practice involves general civil, business, commercial, and oil and gas litigation matters.  In 1992, the Supreme Court of Texas appointed Steve to its Board of Disciplinary Appeals, which has original and appellate jurisdiction in lawyer discipline cases. During his eight-year tenure with the Board (including serving as chairman from 1994 to 1999), Steve participated in deciding several hundred compulsory discipline cases and several thousand classification appeals.

    The American Board of Trial Advocates membership consists of more than 6,300 trial lawyers representing equally the plaintiff and defense bars as well as judges among 93 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
